International knowledge platform on EV charging infrastructure for the science and market sectors
The Future of Charging Symposium is where science and the market meet, with scientists sharing the latest results of their research with stakeholders. Market actors can then adopt and implement these scientific findings. This process assists in the future-proof rollout of charging infrastructure.
The Future of Charging Symposium was initially held as a single-day event in January 2017 and February 2018 as ARCHI Symposium (Applied Research on Charging Infrastructure). The third edition in February 2019 was expanded to 2 days, with the second day devoted to immersive practice-based activities including hackathons and a field trip. This English-language symposium attracts visitors from all over Europe.
The symposium led to the creation of a knowledge platform that formed a collection of recent scientific research, making it probably the world’s largest knowledge base on EV charging.
Product/Service: Symposium and knowledge base.
For: European scientists, market actors and government bodies with an interest in the future of electric charging.
Result: Symposiums in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
Project partners: Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (HvA), Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), Dutch INCERT, AutomotiveNL, TKI and e-Mobil BW.
Response from the field: “There’s so much research, data and technology available. If we can bring together the knowledge that’s already there, if we can bring together the worlds of science and entrepreneurs, we can really make a difference.” (Maarten Steinbuch, professor of Systems and Control at Eindhoven University of Technology)
